Backlight Issues

Ok, I turned my stereo on just before leaving a parking lot last night, and the backlight for the radio, climate control, and clock went dead. All of the systems still work, but the backlight does not come on. I checked the dimmer and fuses, but nothing. No big deal, because its under warranty.

I called the local Acura dealership, and they told me that by replacing the radio, all of the other lights will work too. This doesn't make much sense to me, so what do you all think. Have any other experieced the same issue, and if so, how was yours fixed?

Thanks a bunch!

Quick question for you all....is the backlight problem more prevelent on the standard stereo, or on the navi system? Mine is non-navi, but if the issue is mainly with the non-navi system, then I would like to upgrade.

How much would it take to upgrade to the OEM navi system?

Just a thought!

Like RPhilman said you would have to buy a new car. Acura won't install it and only one person that I know of has ever successfully installed it himself. You have to rewire the entire harness, plus it is rediculously expensive.

The backlight issue is (for the most part) a one time per car thing. It was caused by a bad component in the stereo headunit that holds the power supply for the backlights. After they replace it with an updated part the issue is fixed for good. There are of course a few exceptions.

I believe it has happened to navi as well. If you're looking to upgrade, you would have to purchase a navi TSX. Acura will not install navi into a non-navi TSX, as it would cost too much and would take too long.
